Making the Dew Fall
“To love someone who does not love you, is like shaking the tree to make the dew drops fall.”
A weakness of mine, I confess. To get so little from so much effort is foolish. When you love something (or someone), there is no requirement for that love to be returned. The thirst for the reciprocity will make you believe that you can get it with enough grit, enough loyalty, enough work. The problem is that the effort you put in is guaranteed to yield little to no results. The tree is firm, often unyielding, and the dew drops are not enough to quench your thirst. Leave that tree and find a river so your thirst will be slaked.
I fail this often, I know. But I still know it to be true. Go where the water is plentiful and leave the tree alone.
